EZRA: CHAPTER 3

Ezra Chapter 3 describes the initial steps taken by the returned exiles to restore worship in Jerusalem. Despite facing fear from surrounding nations, the people united to rebuild the altar for the God of Israel and resumed offering sacrifices according to the Law of Moses. They celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles and appointed Levites to supervise the temple construction. When the foundation of the new temple was finally laid, it sparked a powerful mix of emotions: great joy and loud cheering from most, but also deep weeping from older individuals who remembered the glory of the first temple.
