2 CHRONICLES: CHAPTER 3

Chapter 3 tells the story of King Solomon beginning the magnificent construction of God's Temple in Jerusalem. It starts by pinpointing the exact location on Mount Moriah, a special place where God had previously appeared to Solomon's father, David, and where David had prepared a site. The chapter then provides the precise date when this massive building project officially started. It goes on to detail the Temple's initial dimensions and describes the grand porch at the entrance, noting its impressive height and the pure gold used to cover its interior. The main hall is depicted with its fir wood ceiling, lavishly adorned with fine gold, palm tree designs, and decorative chains, along with precious stones. Every part, from walls and beams to doors, was covered in gold, and cherubim figures were carved into the surfaces. The innermost and most sacred room, the Most Holy Place, is described as being completely covered in an immense amount of gold, along with its two large, golden cherubim whose wings stretched across the room. The chapter also mentions the beautifully woven curtain for this inner sanctuary, made of rich colours and featuring cherubim. Finally, it describes the two monumental pillars erected at the Temple's front, detailing their height, their capitals, and the chains and pomegranate ornaments that decorated them, along revealing their specific names: Jachin and Boaz.
