2 CHRONICLES: CHAPTER 35

Chapter 35 tells the powerful story of King Josiah, focusing on the greatest Passover celebration ever held in Israel since the time of the prophet Samuel. Josiah meticulously organised the priests and Levites, making sure everyone understood their duties according to God's laws. He and his leaders generously provided a huge number of animals, ensuring that everyone could participate in the sacred sacrifices. The chapter describes the incredible scale and devotion of this festival. However, the story then takes a sad turn. Later, King Josiah went to battle against Pharaoh Necho of Egypt, even though Necho claimed God had sent him. Josiah was fatally wounded in the fight at Megiddo. His death brought deep sadness and mourning throughout all of Judah and Jerusalem, marking a tragic end to a good king's reign.
