JOSHUA: CHAPTER 3

Chapter 3 of Joshua details the Israelites' crucial preparation and miraculous crossing of the Jordan River. After leaving Shittim, Joshua leads the people to the river's edge. They are instructed to follow the Ark of the Covenant, carried by the Levite priests, maintaining a significant distance. Joshua tells the people to cleanse themselves, promising that God will perform wonders. God then assures Joshua that this event will establish his leadership in the eyes of all Israel. As the priests step into the swollen Jordan River with the Ark, the waters miraculously stop flowing upstream, piling up far away, while the downstream waters disappear, creating dry ground. The entire nation of Israel then walks across the riverbed on dry land, demonstrating God's power and faithfulness.
