NAHUM: CHAPTER 3

Nahum Chapter 3 continues the prophecy against Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, detailing the complete and brutal destruction that awaits it. The chapter vividly describes the city as a cruel, deceitful, and manipulative power, likening it to a treacherous prostitute who exploits nations through lies and sorcery. God declares His direct opposition, promising to publicly humiliate Nineveh, exposing its shame to the world. The prophet reminds Nineveh that even mighty cities like Thebes, with all their strength and allies, fell, indicating that Nineveh's downfall is inevitable. Despite any last-ditch efforts to fortify itself, Nineveh's defences will be useless, its leaders will scatter, and its people will be left helpless and without a leader. The chapter concludes with a powerful image of Nineveh's complete abandonment and ruin, with no one to mourn its demise.
