REVELATION: CHAPTER 18

Revelation Chapter 18 describes the sudden and complete destruction of "Babylon the Great," a powerful, corrupt city or world system that symbolises all human opposition to God. An angel announces its devastating fall, highlighting its wickedness, its luxurious lifestyle, and how it corrupted nations and made the wealthy even richer. A voice from heaven then calls God's people to separate themselves from Babylon to avoid sharing in its sins and the severe punishments it is about to receive. Kings, merchants, and sailors, who profited greatly from Babylon's opulence and trade, mourn its swift downfall, realising their source of wealth is gone in an instant. The chapter concludes by vividly portraying Babylon's utter desolation—a place once vibrant and full of music, commerce, and celebration, now silent and empty forever—because of its widespread deception and its persecution of God's prophets and saints.
