NUMBERS: CHAPTER 34

Chapter 34 of Numbers outlines the specific borders of the land of Canaan that the Israelites are destined to occupy. It details the boundaries from south to west, north to east, using geographical landmarks and place names. The chapter then clarifies that while nine and a half tribes will receive their portion of this land through a drawing of lots, two and a half tribes (Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh) have already been given their territory on the eastern side of the Jordan River. Finally, the text names the individuals appointed by God—Eleazar the priest, Joshua, and a designated leader from each of the remaining tribes—who will be responsible for fairly distributing the land among the families of Israel.
