NUMBERS: CHAPTER 13

This chapter details the mission God gives to Moses: to send twelve leaders, one from each Israelite tribe, to explore the land of Canaan. They are instructed to observe the land's geography, its fertility, the strength and numbers of its inhabitants, and their fortifications. After forty days, the spies return, bringing back evidence of the land's incredible fruitfulness, including a massive cluster of grapes. However, ten of the twelve spies deliver a terrifying report, emphasising the immense strength of the people living there, their giant stature, and their heavily fortified cities. They declare it impossible for the Israelites to conquer. Only Caleb attempts to reassure the people, urging them to trust in their ability to take the land, but his voice is drowned out by the fearful reports of the majority.
