ACTS: CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4 of Acts details the immediate aftermath of Peter and John's miraculous healing of a disabled man and their bold preaching about Jesus' resurrection. Religious authorities, including priests and Sadducees, were upset by their message and arrested them. The next day, Peter and John stood before the Jewish high council. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, bravely declared that the healing power came from Jesus Christ, whom they had crucified but God had raised, and that salvation is found only in Him. Despite the council recognising the undeniable miracle and the apostles' conviction, they threatened Peter and John, ordering them to stop speaking about Jesus. The apostles refused, stating they must obey God rather than people. After further threats, they were released. Upon returning to their fellow believers, everyone prayed for courage, and the Holy Spirit empowered them again. The chapter concludes by describing the remarkable unity and generosity within the early Christian community, where believers shared their possessions so that no one lacked anything, and the apostles continued to powerfully testify about Jesus' resurrection.
