DANIEL: CHAPTER 3

King Nebuchadnezzar constructs an enormous golden statue and commands that everyone in his kingdom bow down and worship it whenever specific music is played, under penalty of being thrown into a blazing furnace. Three Jewish officials – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego – bravely refuse to obey, holding firm to their faith in God. Enraged, Nebuchadnezzar gives them another chance, but they declare they will not worship any god but their own, trusting God to save them, even if He chooses not to. The king orders the furnace to be made incredibly hot, so much so that the guards who throw the three men in are killed by the flames. However, Nebuchadnezzar is astonished to see four men walking unharmed in the fire, the fourth resembling a divine being. He calls Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego out, and they emerge completely untouched by the fire, not even smelling of smoke. Witnessing this incredible miracle, Nebuchadnezzar praises their God, makes a new law protecting Him, and promotes the three faithful men to higher positions.
