HOSEA: CHAPTER 6

Hosea Chapter 6 begins with the people of Israel seemingly expressing a desire to return to the Lord, believing He will heal and restore them quickly after their suffering. However, God responds by exposing the superficiality and fleeting nature of their devotion, comparing it to morning mist. He emphasises that what He truly values is genuine love, loyalty, and a personal knowledge of Him, rather than mere religious ceremonies and sacrifices. The chapter then details the profound moral corruption within both the Northern Kingdom (Ephraim/Israel) and the Southern Kingdom (Judah), pointing out that even the priests are involved in wicked and violent acts, completely breaking their covenant with God. It concludes with God's observation of this terrible spiritual unfaithfulness and hints at a future time of reckoning for Judah.
