JUDGES: CHAPTER 7

Judges Chapter 7 tells the incredible story of Gideon, a leader chosen by God, who defeats the massive Midianite army with a surprisingly small force. God instructs Gideon to drastically reduce his army, first by sending home all who are afraid, then by choosing only 300 men who drink water in a particular way. This is to ensure that the victory is clearly seen as God's work, not Israel's strength. Encouraged by a dream he overhears in the enemy camp, Gideon and his 300 men launch a night attack using trumpets, empty jars, and hidden torches. The sudden noise and light cause utter confusion among the Midianites, leading them to turn their swords on each other and flee in panic. Gideon then calls on other Israelite tribes to pursue the fleeing enemy and capture their leaders, securing a decisive victory.
