ISAIAH: CHAPTER 63

Chapter 63 of Isaiah is divided into two main sections. The first part (verses 1-6) describes a powerful, mysterious warrior coming from Edom with blood-stained garments. This figure is revealed to be God Himself, who has brought divine judgement upon His enemies, acting alone out of a desire for vengeance and to rescue His people. The second part (verses 7-19) transitions into a prayer or lament from the people of Israel. They remember God's past kindness, His faithfulness, and how He carried them through history. However, they also confess their rebellion and question why God seems distant or has allowed them to stray, asking Him to return and remember His covenant with them, despite their current suffering and the desolation of their sanctuary.
