2 CHRONICLES: CHAPTER 6

Chapter 6 of 2 Chronicles records King Solomon's powerful prayer of dedication for the newly completed Temple in Jerusalem. Solomon begins by praising God for fulfilling His promises to his father, David. He then acknowledges God's vastness, recognising that no building can truly contain Him. The core of his prayer is a series of earnest requests for God to hear the prayers offered towards this Temple by individuals and the nation of Israel in various challenging situations – disputes, defeat in battle, drought, famine, plague, and even by foreigners. Solomon asks God to forgive, restore, and act justly, all with the ultimate goal that God's name would be glorified throughout the earth. The prayer concludes with a plea for God to take up His dwelling among His people and remember His faithful love towards David and his descendants.
