JEREMIAH: CHAPTER 48

Jeremiah chapter 48 announces a severe message of judgement from God against Moab, a neighbouring nation to Israel. God declares that Moab will face widespread destruction because of its arrogance, its trust in its own strength and wealth, and its worship of the false god Chemosh. The prophecy describes many Moabite cities being ruined, its people captured or fleeing, and its joy turning into deep sorrow. God plans to send invaders who will completely break Moab's power and leave it desolate, comparing its downfall to a broken, useless pot. Despite this harsh judgement, the chapter ends with a small glimmer of hope, stating that God will eventually restore Moab in the distant future.
