1 SAMUEL: CHAPTER 10

This chapter details the secret anointing of Saul as Israel's first king by the prophet Samuel. Samuel gives Saul three specific signs that will confirm his divine calling, including a spiritual transformation where Saul will prophesy. All these signs come true on the same day, surprising those who know Saul. Later, Samuel publicly gathers all the tribes of Israel at Mizpah to formally select a king by lot, where Saul is divinely revealed, even though he tries to hide himself. The people rejoice and accept him as king, though some express doubt. Samuel establishes the laws of the kingdom and everyone returns home, with some faithful men joining Saul.
